Additional information

Tendril doesn’t have fixed signature dishes, as the menus change frequently to reflect the availability of seasonal ingredients from small suppliers. However, there’s a focus on putting brilliant vegetables back in the spotlight, showcasing the creativity and flavour of plant-first cuisine.

Almost entirely vegan, with some dishes marked as “nv” (non-vegan) for those containing dairy products.
Located just off Oxford Circus, the restaurant offers a cosy, down-lit dining room with a lively atmosphere, ideal for enjoying creative plant-based dishes.
Tendril works with a small group of carefully selected producers and partners who share a commitment to excellence and reducing environmental impact. Ingredients are sourced from trusted suppliers, such as Teds Veg, a fourth-generation farm in Lincolnshire, and Basket Press Wines, specialising in low-intervention, organically farmed wines. Across all suppliers, every effort is made to make a positive difference.
A strong focus is placed on reducing environmental impact through thoughtful and innovative practices. Every possible part of the produce is used. For example, leftover cauliflower stalks are transformed into kimchi, surplus trimmings are utilised for long ferments, pickling juice finds its way into cocktails and beetroot tops are included in salads. With a commitment to preparing everything in-house, the aim is to get as close to zero waste as possible. Ingredients are also locally and organically sourced where feasible, minimising food miles and supporting sustainable farming practices. Partnerships with businesses that embrace a circular economy further reinforce these efforts.
Collaborations with organisations like Thumbprint Apparel, which supports women in India through training and employment, highlight a dedication to social responsibility.
The venue is wheelchair accessible, ensuring a welcoming environment for all visitors.
The drinks menu includes a rotating selection of vegan wines from small European producers, cocktails inspired by seasonal ingredients, as well as kombuchas and drinking vinegars.
Takeaway services are available, with further details provided by the restaurant.
The restaurant was founded by chef Rishim Sachdeva after taking on the Veganuary challenge in 2019. The experiment was a resounding success, and the self-described ‘hardcore meat eater’ embraced plant-based cooking, never looking back. While mostly vegan, the menu occasionally features real cheese, reflecting a journey shared with others transitioning to a plant-based lifestyle. Tendril began with supper clubs, residencies and pop-ups before finding its permanent home just off Oxford Circus. Rishim’s commitment to creative, plant-first cuisine remains at the heart of the restaurant’s ethos.
Tendril offers highchairs and is accommodating to families with children.
The restaurant is dog-friendly, welcoming canine companions.
